The beauty of St Albans: A city wedding and a photographers dream

A relaxed day full of laughter, love, and iconic St Albans spots.

If you're planning a wedding in St Albans and looking for a perfect blend of charm, fun, and a touch of city chic—look no further than this quite magical day.

I had the absolute pleasure of photographing this gorgeous pair as they tied the knot in one of my favourite local areas. From the peaceful bridal prep at St Michael’s Manor, to heartfelt “I dos” at the registry office, followed by good vibes and great food at The Peahen and The Ivy—this wedding had it all. And of course, we couldn’t resist a photo session at the stunning St Albans Cathedral. Let’s dive into the day!

Getting Ready at St Michael’s Manor

Monika started the day in style at St Michael’s Manor, a picture-perfect spot tucked away in the heart of St Albans. The bridal suite was full of that warm pre-wedding buzz—laughter, prosecco, and a mix of nerves and excitement.

The big windows meant dreamy natural light for those getting-ready shots, and the gardens made for a calm moment before things got going. Monika looked absolutely radiant from the moment she stepped into her dress. A total bridal dream.

Ceremony at the St Albans Registry Office

Next stop: St Albans Registry Office, a simple and elegant setting that let the couple’s connection shine. Craig’s face when he saw Monika walking in? Pure emotion. These two are just so obviously made for each other.

The ceremony was intimate, heartfelt, and full of smiles (and maybe a happy tear or two). It's proof that you don't need a huge venue to have a powerful, meaningful ceremony.

A Quick Stop at St Albans Cathedral

After the confetti settled, we took a stroll over to St Albans Cathedral—easily one of the best backdrops in Hertfordshire for wedding photos. The golden late afternoon light gave us some seriously romantic shots, and we even had time for a few relaxed moments on the Abbey grounds.

Whether it’s that epic architecture or the peaceful surrounding parkland, the cathedral never disappoints. It’s a must for any St Albans wedding photographer.

Drinks at The Peahen & Dinner at The Ivy

After photos, it was time to raise a glass (or three) at The Peahen, where guests gathered for drinks, laughter, and a bit of a breather. It's a great space for relaxed mingling—perfect for a couple who wanted to keep things informal and fun.

The party continued at The Ivy St Albans for dinner. The private dining space was decked out beautifully, and the food? Chef's kiss. Speeches were the perfect mix of heartfelt and hilarious, and by the end of the night, the room was buzzing with good vibes.

Final Thoughts

Monika and Craig’s wedding was such a joy to capture. It had everything that makes a St Albans wedding special—historic charm, gorgeous venues, and couples who keep it real and full of love.

If you're planning your big day and want relaxed, natural photography that captures all the real moments, I’d love to chat. Whether you're going big or keeping it cosy, I’m always up for capturing weddings in and around St Albans.
